Hi, I’m Rebecca…
…back in 2021, I found myself unexpectedly running a business creating content. After 15 years as an English Teacher in a secondary school, I had incrementally left a profession I loved after each child (I only have three! But that feels like enough!) and, bored by living a life that centred solely around the repetition of the routine at home, began to explore alternative ways to work.
Thanks to some unbelievable women who had more faith in my skills than I had in my own, I was soon booked out with work writing copy and crafting social media content.
And here is where my own story truly began…
Building a business is a series of unexpected challenges. The things you think you need to know - you know, like, tax or where to find clients - really is just the start. Building a business requires you to face up to everything you have let yourself believe about what you are capable of. And then face up to everything you have let yourself believe about the things that you aren’t.
Entrepreneurship isn’t for everyone.
And, pretty soon I realised that this was a journey of self discovery.
What I also learned was that creating content is an incredibly powerful tool for that!
I believe that each and every human on this planet has something powerful to share. We are here to make our mark in whatever way shape or form.
And yet, the world often teaches us otherwise.
It teaches us to fit in.
It teaches us to play it safe.
To stay small.
To silence ourselves when we should speak up.
And so, we learn to lose our voice.
And, worse still, we are left wondering what marks we might make if only we knew how.
The world misses out on something special when we stay silent.
It misses out on something beautifully uniques.
Because without our words the world cannot know the depths of our thoughts or the value of our experiences. It cannot comprehend all that we possess.
What I do matters because it unlocks something. It realises potential. It causes irreversible reactions.
And, from that, the future that is formed feels more expansive for everyone.
It might begin with your content but what you create has the power to change the whole world.
